EFF MP Fana Mokoena has resigned from Parliament.
South African actor and political activist Fana Mokoena has resigned from parliament.
Four months after being sworn in as an MP for the seventh parliament, Fana Mokoena has resigned. Prior to moving to the National Assembly in August 2016 and serving there until his resignation in October 2020, he was originally elected as an EFF MP in May 2014 and represented the party in the National Council of Provinces.
According to SABC News, Mokoena has also resigned as a member of the highest decision-making decision body between conferences of the EFF, the Central Command Team (CCT).
He was on the portfolio committees for competition, commerce, industry, and sport, as well as the arts and culture.
The news of his resignation from parliament was confirmed by parliament spokesperson Moloto Mothapo on Thursday.
“We can confirm that the Speaker is in receipt of a letter of resignation from Mr Mokoena,” said Mothapo
