“We insist on RDP houses in Orania.” – EFF leader on condition for joining GNU.
The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema, has insisted that RDP housing be built in Orania, a South African town with a large Afrikaner population, in order for his party to be included in a Government of National Unity (GNU).
Pieter Groenewald, the leader of The Freedom Front Plus, stated in a recent interview with SABC News that the African National Congress (ANC) had agreed to recognize Orania, which is situated in the Karoo region beside the Orange River.
According to Groenewald, this was one of their requirements before beginning talks with the ANC to become a member of the Government of National Unity (GNU).
Reactions to the coalition deal have been divided; while some have praised the ANC’s ability to negotiate, others have criticized the inclusion of smaller parties.
Malema took to X(formerly known as Twitter) to express his views on the Government of National Unity (GNU).
“We have made it clear that for us to participate, the DA and VF+ cannot be involved, and we insist on RDP houses in Orania.”
