Umkhanyakude District Chairperson for the EFF, Mxolisi Buthelezi has been shot and killed in KwaZulu-Natal.
The party says Buthelezi was shot whilst on his way to attend organisational duties on Thursday, 02 June.
Condemning the murder of their comrade, the EFF is calling on SAPS to investigate the circumstances around Buthelezi’s murder quickly, leaving no stone unturned.
Mxolisi Buthelezi left his home in Ogengele, KZN when he was attacked by an unknown vehicle in a drive-by shooting.
The EFF District Chairperson died on the scene, while a second EFF member who was with him sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital.
In a statement, the EFF shared that Buthelezi was a committed activist of his community and served his people with pride.
“Not only was Buthelezi the Regional Chairperson of the EFF in Umkhanyakude, but he was also a councillor and an Executive Member, under the municipality. The EFF is deeply saddened by his passing.”
The EFF says KZN continues to be a bloodbath for political killings with no meaningful intervention by the ruling government.
