The DA’s Jack Bloom has slammed the Rahima Moosa CEO for working from home. This comes after a video circulated by MMC Ashley Sauls revealed pregnant women at the hospital were sleeping on the floor.
Dr Nozuko Mkabayi, Rahima Moosa CEO has spent most of her tenure as CEO working remotely from home.
According to the Gauteng Health MEC, Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi who met with the hospital on Monday, 4 April, Dr Mkabayi has only spent 182 days at the hospital.
Dr Mkabayi was appointed CEO at the hospital in January 2021, however due to the Covid-19 pandemic senior management at the hospital were allowed to work from home.

However, Jack Bloom, Member of the Provincial Legislature and member of the Health Portfolio Committee for Gauteng said he finds the arrangement unbelievable.
Speaking to eNCA, Bloom said, “As the CEO of the hospital, Dr Mkabayi should be setting an example. I don’t know if any other hospital CEO is given the same arrangement. The MEC for Health told me the CEO was given permission to work from home. This shows us everything that’s wrong with the Gauteng Health Department.”
Bloom says this is why the CEO wasn’t aware of the situation with the pregnant women sleeping on the floors and denied the allegations of negligence.
She claims the “isolated” incident was staged by patients and MMC Sauls who made an unplanned visit to the hospital at midnight on 01 April.
Meanwhile, the Gauteng Health Department said that the hospital is aware of the allegations and will be investigating the matter.
