The City of Joburg has committed to raising R100 billion to support its infrastructure development programme.
The mayor of the City of Joburg, Dada Morero addressed the media about the water infrastructure in the city.
Part of the city currently experiences intermitted supply and water shortages because of the substandard condition of the infrastructure.
The upgrading of the infrastructure formed part of the discussion with the Minister of Water and Sanitation.
Water and Sanitation Minister, Senzo Mchunu approved that Rand Water increases bulk supply to Gauteng.
The municipality and the minister agreed that there is a need for infrastructure upgrades.
A discussion on where to find the resources to support upgrades throughout the province of Gauteng will be held by the municipalities and the minister.
Mayor Morero says that the upgrading of the water infrastructure of the city will form part of the R100 billion the city would like to raise to support the infrastructure development programme.
