Cash-in-transit (CIT) heists and ATM bombings are once again on the rise in Johannesburg, after two recent CIT heists in Vosloorus and the Golden Highway, south of Johannesburg.
On Friday morning, 02 February, the Golden Highway near Olifantsvlei was closed off following a brazen CIT heist.
There have been no reports of fatalities or any injuries, but police are still on the scene.
It is is unclear how many suspects were involved, and the amount of money taken from the scene has not been disclosed.
Crime Watch host Yusuf Abramjee shared that this is the second CIT heist in Johannesburg this week, following the cross-pavement CIT robbery in Vosloorus.

In another incident, an ATM in Olievenhoutbosch, Ext 36, Centurion was bombed in the early hours of the morning.
It is once again not clear how much money was taken from the scene.
