Temperatures are expected to drop this weekend as a double cold front grips the country.
With a high possibility of snowfall over various parts of the Western and Eastern Cape, South Africans are advised to prepare for a significant drop in mercury.
The cold front will be felt in Gauteng from Sunday, 14 August but makes it’s way to the Western Cape from Friday.
Bringing with it a series of cold fronts affecting the western parts of the country, temperatures will only reach a maximum of 12° Celsius.
Cold, wet and windy conditions from Friday through Sunday will most likely mean a weekend indoors near the heaters and under blankets is on the cards.

In addition, a second cold front will reach the Western Cape on Saturday, bringing a big chance of snow.
The effects of the cold front will likely linger until Monday.
Western Cape residents are advised to avoid the coastline as waves are expected to reach dangerous heights of 4 – 6 metres.
A level 2 warning for high waves and strong winds has been issued by the South African Weather Services.
