- The SIU has arrested Emalahleni car dealer Yusuf Omar during an investigation involving a Bentley linked to the Tembisa Hospital corruption probe.
- Investigators allege Omar failed to cooperate with court orders relating to the seizure of a Bentley Continental GT that forms part of the investigation.
- The vehicle has not yet been located, and Omar Motor Den is expected to appear before the Special Tribunal in July over possible contempt of court proceedings.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has arrested a Mpumalanga car dealer after obtaining urgent court orders relating to a luxury Bentley that forms part of an ongoing investigation linked to businessman Hangwani Morgan Maumela.
Maumela has been implicated in investigations concerning alleged corruption and procurement irregularities at Tembisa Hospital. The allegations remain the subject of ongoing legal and investigative processes.
The SIU confirmed on Friday, 05 June 2026, that Omar Motor Den in Emalahleni and its owner, Yusuf Omar, were served with Special Tribunal orders after the dealership failed to cooperate with investigators and repeatedly ignored court directives relating to a restrained Bentley Continental GT.
According to the SIU, Omar was arrested after refusing to cooperate with officials who were executing a Special Tribunal order authorising the seizure of the vehicle.

The developments form part of the SIU’s ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and procurement irregularities involving corruption-accused Hangwani Morgan Maumela.
The Special Tribunal granted an order authorising the SIU’s appointed curator, Bonis, to take possession of the Bentley Continental GT and prevent any sale, transfer, movement or disposal of the vehicle while investigations continue.
However, the SIU says the vehicle it is seeking has not yet been located.
According to the SIU, Omar Motor Den informed investigators that the Bentley currently displayed at the dealership is not the vehicle that forms part of the investigation and that the vehicle in question had already been sold.
“The Bentley on the dealership floor is not the vehicle under investigation by the SIU. They have until Tuesday, 9 June 2026, to supply the SIU’s curator with documents relating to the sale, ownership and whereabouts of the vehicle,” the SIU said in a statement.
The Special Tribunal has ordered Omar Motor Den and Yusuf Omar to appear before it on 3 July 2026 to explain why they should not be held in contempt of court.
