ATM has called for a secret ballot for vote deciding Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s fate.
The African Transformation Movement (ATM) has written a letter to Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula requesting the National Assembly to vote in a secret ballot in the determination of suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s fate.
ATM President Vuyo Zungula claimed that the African National Congress (ANC) would once more exert pressure on its members’ voting decisions.
The committee’s findings, which called for Mkhwebane to be fired, will be presented for discussion and ultimate assembly approval.
A Public Protector may be removed from office under Section 194 of the Constitution by at least a two-thirds majority of votes.
According to Zungula, the Section 194 procedure has been marked from the start by a politically predetermined outcome for a number of reasons.
