Andy Byron resigns from Astronomer after Coldplay concert embrace goes viral
A United States tech company has confirmed that its Chief Executive Officer, Andy Byron, has resigned after being caught on a big screen at a Coldplay concert sharing an intimate embrace with a female co-worker.
In a statement released by the tech company Astronomer, the board said:
Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted.
The viral clip, captured at the Coldplay concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts, showed Byron hugging a woman on the venue’s jumbo screen.
The pair was seen swaying to the music before suddenly ducking and trying to hide from the camera. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin jokingly remarked to the crowd, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy,” prompting laughs from the audience.
The individuals in the video were later identified by US media as Andy Byron, a married chief executive of Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s chief people officer.
In a follow-up statement issued Saturday, the company reiterated its stance on ethical leadership:
As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.
The video has since gained millions of views across social media platforms, sparking widespread conversation about workplace relationships and executive accountability
