The ANC released a statement wishing veteran party member Pravin Gordhan a “swift and complete recovery” in response to reports that he had been admitted to the hospital.
When his family released a statement late on Tuesday night, announcing the minister’s admission to the hospital for treatment, news of the former minister of public enterprises’ hospitalization made headlines.
On Wednesday a prayer vigil was held in Johannesburg on Wednesday night following Gordhan’s hospitalisation.
The ANC has noted a statement provided by Comrade Pravin Gordhan’s family on his hospital admittance, according to a statement released by the party’s national spokesperson, Zuko Godlimpi.
“The African National Congress (ANC) has noted a statement issued by the family of Comrade Pravin Gordhan regarding his admission in hospital. The ANC would like to extend its heartfelt wishes for a swift and complete recovery to former ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) Member and veteran of our movement Comrade Pravin Gordhan.
“During this time of health challenges, our thoughts and prayers are with the family, and we are confident that the strength and determination he possesses will see him through this period. We look forward to his full recovery to health and continued contribution to our movement and service to the country.” read the statement,
