ANC sets a date for former President Jacob Zuma’s disciplinary hearing to be held on the 17th of July.
In January, the ruling African National Congress (ANC) announced its decision to suspend the former President. After starting a rival organization (uMkhonto weSizwe) and refusing to vote for the ANC, which he formerly led, he was suspended.
A statement on Mr. Zuma’s behalf was read at the formal launch of MK in December. It stated that he would “die a member of the ANC” but would not vote for it, that some of its leaders act in an “un-ANC manner,” and that it was now his duty to “rescue” the “once-great movement.”
In May the ANC postponed the disciplinary proceedings citing that “internal and external security assessments” were submitted to the party’s national disciplinary committee (NDC) due to the potential that it would attract violence.
A leaked letter confirming the date was shared by Jacob Zuma’s daughter Dudu-Zuma Sambudla on X (Formerly known as Twitter)
