A 7-year old was allegedly raped by a Grade 7 learner in the school toilets on Friday, 19 April.
As reported by SABC News, the female victim from Shongoane village in Lephalale, Limpopo went home on Friday with injuries to her “legs”.
When her mother checked, she didn’t find anything wrong with her daughter’s legs, and assumed that she had probably just fell at school.
However, the little girl started crying and complained of being in pain on the “inside” of her legs.
It was then that her mother put her on the bed and looked at her private area and realized something was wrong.
The girl was rushed to a local clinic where further examinations were done and it was confirmed that she had been raped.
According to police the minor boy has not been identified but by the description from his alleged victim, it was established he was in a higher grade than her.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said an investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the Limpopo Department of Social Development says it will dispatch social workers to provide psycho-social support to the 7-year old learner who was allegedly raped by a fellow learner of the same age, at the school toilets.
