A British student, 22, was decapitated by a helicopter tail rotor. The student has been identified as Jack Fenton.
Jack was disembarking from a helicopter in Athens charted from Mykonos when he was hit in the head by the tail blade while reportedly taking a selfie and died instantly.
However, Jack Stanton-Gleaves, a friend of Jack’s who was also in the helicopter, told MailOnline that he was not using his phone when the accident occurred.
The 22-year-old was returning from a brief trip with his friends at the time of the calamity.
A Greek police source told the Mirror that “the blades were still in motion when he disembarked.”
According to reports coming out of Greece, the ground engineers and pilot were detained after the incident on Monday and freed pending the results of the investigation.
