A Gqeberha family are devastated after their 10-year old child, Storm Nuku was mauled to death by the family’s pit bull dogs.
The boy from Gelvandale was attacked by the two dogs on Monday, 27 September inside their home.
Police were forced to shoot both dogs and unfortunately the child succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
“After being alerted to the incident, police arrived on the scene and found both dogs inside the house attacking the boy. Police were forced to shoot and kill both dogs and an inquest docket will be opened for further investigation.”
The incident took place at around 13h15 on Monday and the family were helpless in getting the dogs to stop their attack on Storm.
Pit bulls are responsible for 68% of dog attacks and 52% of dog-related deaths.
The dogs are said to be highly aggressive, especially posing a risk to young children.
