Nestlé South Africa has recalled KitKat products due to potential presence of glass pieces in its product.
In a statement released on the company’s website, there have been no reports of injuries or complaints from consumers to date.
However the company has discovered the presence of small pieces of glass during quality and safety checks.
The recall includes specific batches of the crispy wafer biscuit chocolate bars for the 2-finger and mini bag KitKat products.
According to the company these are the only two products affected by the recall.
The recall is also specifically limited to the milk chocolate variety and the white and dark chocolate variants are not included.
A list of the batch code for the recalled products are on the company’s website.
Consumers who may have purchased defected products are advised not to consume them. Return the product to the store of purchase for a full refund.
The batch code can be found on the bottom of the packaging.
Nestlé is investigating what went wrong in production and assure the public they have put extra measures in place to ensure this does not happen again.
Products with a best before date of 30 September 2022 and 31 October 2022 are affected by the recall.
