In another first by the space agency, NASA dropped the Perseverance rover on Mars last week, 18 February.
NASA, always on a quest to find life on other planets, shared images and live footage from the rover as soon as the heat-resistant machine touched down.
The question of whether Mars is inhabitable has played in many sci-fi movies over the years, from Total Recall to the more recent Ad Astra with Brad Pitt and The Martian with Matt Damon.
Mars is a cold and empty planet currently with theories around how the planet could have been inhabited eons ago. There were signs that water flowed on the red planet some 3 billion years ago.
NASA chose the Jezero crater to land Perseverance. A crater that is said to have once been filled with water.
The rover has a hefty to-do list that will help NASA in its search for signs of ancient life, which includes finding favorable rocks, drilling, collecting, and storing.
