Vusi Nova reportedly leaves record label Muthaland Entertainment.
Award-winning singer Vusi Nova has reportedly parted ways with his label Muthaland Entertainment after 10 years with them.
According to reports Nova who is originally from New Brighton in Gqeberha, will soon be launching his own record label, Nova Sounds.
Vusi Nova has been the soundtrack of many South Africans, and many will be remembered for his debut single with the label, “I’d Rather Go Blind.” which came out in 2013.
Nova has gone on to make music that were the theme songs in many people’s lives and he recently worked on a song “Zwide” on the Shaka iLembe soundtrack. His voice can be heard on songs like Ndikuthandile, Intliziyo, Thandiwe, As’phelelanga, Yibanathi amongst others. He succesfully released a total of six albums duting his stint with the label.
Lance Stehr who is the Muthaland founder and CEO, told Sowetan Live that they parted way on good grounds and wished Nova continued success.
“It’s been a remarkable journey with Vusi Nova. I’ve always believed that he has one of the greatest voices this country has ever heard.
“As well as the ability to outperform a number of his international industry counterparts making him one of the best live performers on the continent. We wish him continued success as he embarks on this path with Nova Sounds. Muthaland will always stand by him, offering guidance and support in an advisory capacity.”
“We have worked with a lot of artists who at some point felt the need to go independent be it DJ Cleo, Zola 7, Ready D, Da Les and others.
“I feel it’s a journey that needs to be travelled if the artist feels so. My enjoyment comes from developing new artists and breaking them into the market. Vusi is huge at this point in his career and I think he feels he needs to run solo. I know he will deliver what his fans want.” said Stehr
Vusi Nova will be releasing a new single ‘Soze Ndixoke’ on the 1st of September
Vusi Nova will be releasing a new single on the 1st of September, ‘Soze Ndixoke’ featuring 047 and Kwanda, a song about how he will never be at peace.
Nova said that the song was inspired by his mother’s passing, he took to social media to asks his fans to share things that have made it hard for them to find peace.
