South African artists Musa Keys and Tyla have received their first Grammy nods for the 66th music awards which is set to take place on 04 February 2024.
The list of Grammy nominees were released on Friday, 10 November and both South African artists were nominated for Best African Performance.
Musa Keys and Tyla were nominated in the category together with other African hitmakers, Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr.
While Tyla was nominated for her globally hot hit, Water, Musa Keys’ feature on Davido’s single Unavailable earned him his first Grammy nod.
Musa shared the news of his nomination with Davido, with the caption, “God! Come see me shining.”

Meanwhile Tyla’s Grammy nomination comes a month after Water hit No.1 on the US Afrobeats songs charts.
The 21-year old has previously shared that her life has changed since she released the dance track in July 2023.
“Not long ago, I was just a girl in South Africa dreaming of moments like this.
Even though I’ve been grinding for years, it feels like this is all happening so fast.
I cannot wait for the world to see what an African popstar looks like.”
