A miscarriage is described as spontaneous loss of a fetus before the 20th week of pregnancy.
It is reported that between ten and fifteen percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage.
South African media personality Mpho Letsholonyane is one of the many women who have had to deal with the loss of a pregnancy.
Letsholonyane shared how at the age of 17, she was told she could never conceive due to endometriosis. Miraculously, at the age of 28 she conceived, but sadly suffered a miscarriage.
“Still can’t believe that I went from being told that I’d never be able to conceive at age 17 because endometriosis, managing to conceive and then suffering a miscarriage at age 28,” she wrote on Twitter.
Although she managed to give birth to a healthy boy who is now nine, the star says she still has to deal with societal pressure, where she gets asked when is she having another child.
“Then people recklessly ask you when you’re having another child. Kwaaa. You got jokes!! You got NO clue how much pain it took for me to even get to this 1,” she wrote.
She asked society to stop asking women when they are having children, as it’s not always easy.
