The Maropeng Boutique Hotel is a charming, secluded location in Magaliesburg. Gauteng Tourism invited us to experience the magnificent Maropeng on a Thursday night.
The drive to the Cradle of Humankind is a short one as it’s located 50km northwest of Johannesburg. That’ less than an hour to get to Maropeng Boutique Hotel. The hotel is part of The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, one of the most significant palaeoanthropology destinations on the continent and Gauteng’s sole world heritage site.
Upon our arrival at the hotel, we were taken to the Sterkfontein Caves and were privileged to enjoy a private guided tour through the breathtaking caves. Did you know that the Cradle of Humankind’s Sterkfontein Caves is home to a third of the world’s human ancestor fossils?
The Friday morning after a hearty and meaty dinner at Carnivore, we were taken to Lesedi Cultural village which is not far from the hotel.
Lesedi Cultural Village is a tourist village, which celebrates the cultural traditions of several different peoples of Southern Africa. It reproduces traditional dwellings and offers demonstrations of dances and other cultural activities. I learnt so much about my culture and the essence of ubuntu.
