Meet the man who hasn’t bathed in more than six decades – Amou Haji.
Many people prefer to bathe or shower at least once a day or can skip a day or too without bathing, but according to Amou Haji, this is not necessary.
According to Wonder World, the 83-year-old Iranian man feels “cleanliness brings on illness”.
He reportedly hasn’t bathed for sixty years and is considered by many as the world’s dirtiest man.
Haji apparently has a phobia for water.
The homeless man lives in holes made in the desert outside his village.
But according to dnaindia.com, he is looking for a partner.
How often should you bathe?
According to healthline.com, how often a person should bathe depends on their skin type and the season. For instance, a daily shower in winter can cause your skin to become dry, while it might not have the same effect in summer.
The health website reports that dermatologists only recommend a shower every other day, or two to three times a week.
Dangers of not showering
One of the most obvious challenges that comes with not bathing is bad body odour, especially in your armpits and groin.
According to Healthline, not bathing regularly can also cause a build-up of dead skin cells, dirt, and sweat on your skin which can cause acne. It can also lead to you suffering from conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis, and eczema.
It can also cause you to have areas of dark or discoloured skin.
