The Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg now has electricity again after being without it for two days.
There was no power at the hospital on Sunday when a feederboard at the Ridge Substation caught fire. City Power acknowledged that the protracted power outage was caused by unforeseen operational and technical difficulties.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to Gauteng Department of Health Head of Communication, Motalatale Modiba who stated that the repairs were finished on Tuesday morning saying that other facilities were affected.
“Fortunately City Power was able to restore power supply just after 11 today (Tuesday), it had been resolved much earlier, but there were some problems as it tripped again. As we speak now operations are back to normal and we are no longer utilising generators, we do have a power supply.”
