The Organization Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) says it supports student complaints over the allegedly subpar job done by third-party operators who were given the task of awarding student allowances beginning in June this year.

On service providers not being registered for value added tax
They have said all the information they have gathered on these tenders has been shared with the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), which has a proclamation to investigate NSFAS.
“We didn’t stop with our investigation, because we received more information, and we found some aspects of this tender we can not agree with. We found that only two of the four service providers are registered for value added tax, now that causes a big problem.”
No proof of bank agreements
“Outa couldn’t find proof of any agreement between any bank and the service providers in November, and also not with the latest investigation. The only ‘proof’ is a notice in fine print on some websites of the service providers that they are affiliated with Access Bank or another fintech company called Ukheshe,”
