On what US Ambassador to South Africa Reuben Brigety’s apology was for
“He apologised to my senor officials who were with him in the room after I left, they came to tell me that he had unreservedly apologised not for the allegations, but the manner in which he had conducted himself with respect to the media conference that he called. I will say I had also indicated to him my concerns at his constant association of our department with statements that may be made by political parties including the ANC.” said Pandor.
I was grateful for the opportunity to speak with Foreign Minister Pandor this evening and correct any misimpressions left by my public remarks. In our conversation, I re-affirmed the strong partnership between our two countries & the important agenda our Presidents have given us.

On the investigation into the validity of the sale of arms to Russia
“South Africa strictly follows the stipulations and the fact that we were hearing this and there were these allegations without any evidence or any indication from the side of the defense force of what had occurred with the ship, the President felt that he needed a thorough look and that this would be set in motion.” said Pandor.
In another conversation Political Analyst Gogo Aubrey Matshiqi analysed South Africa’s foreign policy in light of the arms sale allegations.
