Independent candidate amongst the giants, Anele Mda joins Phemelo Motene on Point of View to talk about the mammoth task she has ahead of her as she takes the road to Parliament.
Mda is one of 11 Independent Candidates contesting the upcoming National and Provincial elections.
“It is a mammoth task, but it’s also an expression and display of commitment to one’s country. It’s also a reminder that we are the generation that must carry the spear where it was left by the previous generation.
We are seized with the continuous reflection that must never leave us, of always wanting to dig deep and ponder on the state of our country.
Not just for ourselves, but as a way of checking if our democracy is able to fulfil what was dreamt of, and what was aspired by those who came before us.
It is really about paying my respect to the sacrifice of the fallen heroes who left this giant inheritance for us as a generation.
So, standing alone meant that I had to subject myself to scrutiny, one has to believe that I possess the necessary prowess and the ability and attributes of leadership that have stood the test of time.”

Anele Mda’s 10 point manifesto plan focuses on eradicting unemployment and professional youth displacement, creating an inclusive and growing economy, and emphasizes the need to accelerate the fight against gender based violence and femicide.
Mda’s economic recovery plan for South Africa includes a fund specifically dedicated to providing financial support to marginalized groups, ensuring they have the resources they need to bring their ideas to life.
The Independent candidate amongst giants is prioritizing business development support, procurement opportunities, technology and innovation as well as education and skills development.
