Msimang recounted his visit to one of the police stations, saying that there is a general fear amongst the police officers to express the challenges that affect the way they fight crime in the area.
“We are talking about a growing crime rate in Gauteng, we are not really looking at what is the cause and how we are putting resources in there and whether we have the right men and women who are enough and equipped. Today for example I was at one of the police stations, unfortunately for the police, because of the command and control they find themselves working under, some of them will tell you what is happening but are very much scared of saying that it is me who is telling you all these things.”
