City of Joburg to petition Supreme Court of Appeal on Floyd Brink Judgement.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku the leader of the Democratic Alliance’s Johannesburg caucus, about the party’s application to appeal the finding that its City Manager Floyd Brink was hired illegally was denied
Kayser-Echeozonjoku stated that the party’s objective has always been to protect Johannesburg residents from the unlawful actions of the coalition government after the ruling on Monday.
On Monday, the High Court upheld its initial ruling on Brink’s appointment and the City of Joburg filed an application for leave to appeal after the same court declared Brink’s appointment unconstitutional, unlawful, and invalid.

Kayser-Echeozonjoku has reiterated that the appointment of the city manager was yet another example of a corrupt regime, trying to deploy yet another one of their cadres.
She added that this is the reality of the City of Johannesburg, and the reason they are failing and that the judge didn’t feel there was sufficient motivation, and that there was no good chance of it going through.
“It’s not the appeal that is dismissed, it is the application for leave to appeal that has been dismissed, we obviously welcome it because we have always believed that the city is wasting taxpayers’ money. We are concerned that this is going to be another revolving expenditure,” said Kayser-Echeozonjoku
