Warmer weather is here, and as the temperatures rise, dressing for comfort is a priority for many South Africans.
Growing up on the sunny shores of KwaZulu-Natal meant Kaya Drive host, Sizwe Dhlomo spent most of his time chilling on the beach, surfing and soaking in the sun.
“As soon as it’s warmer, I’m rocking my shorts, I’m rocking my slippers, that’s how I roll. I’m all about comfort, even at the office, I have no issues wearing my shorts to work.
The question is, how short is too short, because there are some shorts that may not be appropriate.”

Does the same “rule” apply to women however? Unfortunately not, because many women shared that their office has strict dress codes and short shorts are a big no-no.
Sizwe pointed out that given the high rape incidents in the country, it is unfair that women cannot wear whatever they feel comfortable in and have to guard their modesty.
Even outside of the office, the war on women’s body’s is a constant battle, making gender-equality a far-fetched dream.
Women are however, gradually owning their confidence and taking back their power by wearing what makes them feel comfortable, regardless of their weight and/or body size.
Kaya Drive Sports Presenter, Angie Khumalo who used to struggle with body dysmorphia says after moving from KZN to Johannesburg she started experimenting with different looks.
“I used to wear the baggiest clothing and then I moved to Johannesburg and started wearing skinny jeans. Now, when I’m busy working on the farm, I will have the tiniest shorts on and not care.”

Mbali Dhlamini feels the same way and says she no longer feels the need to hide her body.
“As long as I am comfortable and I feel I look good, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks or says.”

It’s funny that Sizwe has no problems wearing shorts to work when not so long ago, he berated the use of workout attire outside of the gym.
