Keeping secrets from your partner or hiding certain things in an attempt to protect their feelings will only backfire.
A relationship or marriage that is riddled with secrets is considered deceptive, especially when what you’re hiding from your partner is as serious as infidelity.
Over the weekend, US singer, Ne-Yo’s wife went public with the revelations that he was cheating on her over the past 8-years with multiple women.
What’s more is that he had sexual relations with these women without protection.
Crystal Renay shared that the RnB sensation, had deceived and lied to her throughout their marriage.
Apart from infidelity, hiding financial troubles, your reasons for wanting or not wanting to have children, job issues or business trouble are all huge secrets that will often be viewed as a betrayal.
Some of the secrets that can make or break a relationship or marriage are:
Finances
Finances play a huge role in a relationship, especially in a marriage. Finances are one of the top three reasons for conflict in marriage. It’s important to discuss your financial goals with your partner as well as how you both feel about spending and saving before walking down the aisle.
Values
Another important aspect of ensuring a successful marriage is discussing your values. We all have individual values and goals, and marrying a person who doesn’t share the same values as you, or won’t support them, will cause conflict in marriage and sometimes even lead to divorce.
Don’t hide your core values from your partner, as it could cause tension with relation to religious or family beliefs.
Personal problems
Partners who try to get through personal problems without involving their significant others often learn that it would have been better to just disclose their issues from the start.
While you’re not expecting your partner to solve your personal problems, having them in your life means you have a sounding board for advice and to offer you support and understanding.
