Adults can play too! As an adult, the word “play” often doesn’t fit or exist in our vocabulary.
And even if it does, our idea of play is usually attached to “groove” or alcohol, which is great to a certain extent, but what are the fun things you do as an adult that unleashes your inner child?
On Feel Good with Andy Maqondwana, Andy talks to listeners about “adults can play to” as well as what it means to play as an adult.
In a voice note, one listener expressed his excitement about starting a new hobby.
“I have recently started a new hobby!”
Another listener shared how doing fun activities with her son is not only invigorating but also keeps her young.
“I play hey and I enjoy it hey! I have a 9-year-old son, and he is very active hey. We go to the park, we get on the swings, the slip and slides and the mary-go-rounds. He sometimes takes his bicycle”.
She continues: “You know the saying, ‘You don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing, that’s me and I love playing! I don’t want to ever stop playing anytime soon”.
Despite play being associated with children, it shouldn’t be restricted to a certain age group.
Here are four benefits of play for adults:
- Lowers your stress levels.
- Improves your relationships.
- Stimulates your mind and boosts brain function.
- Keeps you feeling young and energetic.
