It’s been three years since the infamous “Oscars Slap,” when Will Smith shocked the world by slapping comedian Chris Rock live on stage in a moment of anger.
In the aftermath, it’s been estimated that Smith lost out on close to $1 billion worth of major film roles and projects.
This week on Drive 959 with Glen Lewis, the team turned that global moment into a local conversation, asking listeners: “From losing money to losing people, what has anger cost you?”
Glen Lewis shared that he’s always made a conscious effort to control his temper.
“My temper hasn’t taken the best out of me or cost me any big deals,” he said. “But I remember a couple of weeks ago at a parking lot. I’d spoken to an Uber driver who said I could park there, not realising a woman was also waiting for the spot.”
“An argument broke out between me and the woman. She dropped an F-bomb, but I just ignored her. No matter where you go, people will try to provoke you.”
Reflecting further, Glen added:
“There are people who’ve taken advantage of me, not paying me, then coming back months later to apologise. And I’d still go and work with them,” he shared.
