What’s the best way to welcome someone to a new job, into the family or as the latest edition to a group?
The Kaya 959 way of course, with open arms and a lot of laughter, banter and good vibes, which was the order of the day on Glen Lewis’ first show.
Messages from fellow Kaya 959 presenters, Sizwe Dhlomo and Andy Maqondwana set the tone for “Glenzito’s” first day, before listeners took over the reigns and truly welcomed the legendary radio personality home.
Sizwe shared that it was Glen Lewis who inspired him to get into the radio industry, looking up to the veteran broadcaster throughout his career.
“The great one, you already know how I feel about you as a broadcaster but as a brother, I am honoured to be working alongside you.
Ever since I was a kid actually, I remember in 1997 the first time I heard DMX – Slippin’ was on your show.
I would always listen to you and when I started doing Kaya Drive, I tried to emulate your show at Metro FM.
I know Drive 959 is going to be fire.”
Sizwe Dhlomo
Andy Maqondwana gave Glen Lewis a Feel Good welcome to his new home.
“Glen Lewis is finally on Kaya 959. I want to wish you a Feel Good welcome to Kaya, you are right at home and I am so excited to see and experience all that you are.
You are an icon in the game, I grew up listening to you and it is an honour that I aslo get to share space with you.”
Andy Maqondwana
The much anticipated show with Glen Lewis took off without a hitch and listeners embraced the Drive 959 host, and the larger than life team which includes Kgomotso Meso and Skhumba Hlophe.
