Ever heard of the term “Princess Treatment”? Thanks to social media, the phrase has gained traction as some women openly express a preference for relationships where men go far beyond the traditional standards of being a gentleman.
While a typical gentleman might be expected to open car doors and show courtesy, princess treatment demands an approach that includes consistent pampering, consistent attention, and frequent spoiling as the norm, not the exception.
Commenting on the trend, Kgomotso Meso noted that the dating game has evolved and that standards now vary significantly across different communities.
“Before, our standards came from our parents and now the world is our oyster,” she said.
Glen Lewis added:
“What I’ve noticed is, when you open doors, buy someone presents, and check on them about their day, you’re often labelled as that kind of person.”
During the show, Kgomotso also opened the lines to Drive 959 listeners, asking if they believed in the concept of princess treatment and whether it sets realistic expectations in modern dating.
