Social lives are becoming increasingly expensive, with more people choosing to skip outings such as birthday dinners and casual drinks with friends. Is a genuine connection starting to feel like a luxury?
This follows a viral video in which a woman explained how costly it can be to maintain a large circle of friends.
On Drive 959 with Glen, Skhumba recalled a weekend when he went out with the boys and spent a significant amount of money. Looking back, he regrets it, describing it as an unnecessary expense.
Glen posed the question: “Who are your friends? Do they have responsibilities? How much do they earn?”
Kgomotso pointed out that the situation can sometimes be even harder for unmarried people with single friends, since couples can split the bill. “Everything is on you as the single one. Friendship needs time, and time is money,” Kgomotso said.
