A newlywed couple doesn’t live together as they work in different provinces. With limited weekend time together, the wife is growing frustrated as her husband often prioritizes running errands for his mother and sister over quality time with her. Seeking advice from The Best T in the City, the wife questions the normality of her husband’s behaviour and whether her expectations are unreasonable in their unique situation.
“My husband and I have been married for a year. Unfortunately, we don’t live together as he works in a different province and comes to see me every weekend. He is supposed to see me every weekend, but whenever he comes, there is a duty that he must do at his family home. His sister and mother are always asking him to do stuff, which takes up the majority of our weekend, and we find ourselves only spending a few hours together.
“My question is, is it normal for a husband to come back and spend the majority of his weekend doing Lord knows whatever, and the family is not considerate of the fact that my husband has been away for some time and we need to bond and reconnect? Am I being unreasonable, or is this normal?”
