A disheartened listener recently reached out to The Best T in the City with Tbose to open up about her disappointment.
She revealed that when her best friend got married three years ago, she got her a pricey gift, which she had saved up months for because she knew how much it meant to her friend.
However, on her wedding day, her friend got her cutlery and bedding, which left her feeling disappointed as she had gone above and beyond for her friend’s wedding. Her husband advised her not to read too much into it, but she can’t help but feel hurt.
“When my best friend got married three years ago, I spent over 10k on her gift. I knew that this was the one thing she wanted the most, so I saved up for it. I got married last month, and she just got me bedding, glasses, and cutlery. This really disappointed me. As my bestie, I felt she would have first made an effort to find out what I really wanted as a gift, the same effort I did with hers.
“My husband says I shouldn’t read too much into it and I must just be appreciative, but I expected more from her. I just wish she could have done much more. I want to tell her that she let me down as she got me what ordinary people would get, and hers doesn’t feel as special. I honestly don’t mind coming off as entitled; this is my best friend. If we can share innermost secrets, we can also share uncomfortable truths.
“Even if she doesn’t fix this one, this will teach her how to treat me and to hold me as high as I hold her. Or do I have a blind spot?”
