A listener shares that from the start of her relationship, she earned more than her husband. This was never an issue, as he has always been loving, respectful, and supportive.
However, with a newborn now in the picture, Anonymous is beginning to feel the weight of being the primary provider.
What troubles her most is that her husband seems content earning less, and she is starting to question whether she made a mistake by marrying for love.
Reaching out to The Best T in the City with Tbose, Anonymous is seeking clarity and wants to know if there are any blind spots she might be overlooking.
“My husband and I recently welcomed our first baby, and this entire experience has been a real eye-opener for me. From the beginning, I knew I earned more than he did. But I felt completely loved, respected, and wanted. He constantly reassured me, and truly, this man has meant everything to me.
“That’s why I said yes when he proposed last year. But since having our child, I’m beginning to regret that decision. I’ve always carried the financial weight of our relationship. He tries to contribute, but I have high standards, and l’ve had to fill in the gaps. Now, with a baby in the picture, it’s become crystal clear: I am the breadwinner, and I can’t rely on him financially.
“He’s still a good man, he helps where he can, he’s kind, present, and loving. But I want more. I want a bigger place for our growing family, and I know he can’t help much with that. He’s content with his job and his simple lifestyle. I’m not.
“The idea of having more children scares me because I don’t want to carry this burden alone. I’m starting to feel resentful, and that frightens me. Should I just be grateful that I have a man who genuinely loves and respects me?
“Or is it okay to want a partner who also matches me financially and lives in the same world as I do? Would it be shortsighted of me to walk away? What could be my blind spot here?”
