An anonymous listener shares that she came across her best friend’s husband on a dating app. What’s worse is that he proposed they have a hookup, which she turned down. Now, she’s torn between letting her friend know or just letting it go.
“I decided to join a dating app after nearly two years of being single. While scrolling through the app, I came across a familiar face—my best friend’s husband. I asked him what he was doing on the app, as it is for single people, and without any hesitation, he told me he was looking for some excitement and nothing serious.
“He then proposed that we have an affair since we’re a match, and I took a screenshot of our conversation in case I needed evidence one day to show his wife. He has now started to harass me, asking that I not tell his wife. I’ve just blue-ticked and blocked him.”

Weighing in on the listener’s blind spot, our newsreader, Mfundo Mabalane, said that she would immediately inform her friend if she discovered her husband on dating sites.
“It is going to hurt me nonetheless, even if he does remove his profile from the platform. I’d never be able to trust him again, and if my friend ever found out that at one point I knew that her husband was on dating sites during their marriage, I know that she would end our friendship because that would’ve been the red flag that I should have notified a friend of,” Nomfundo said, adding that she would encourage the husband to tell his friend and say, at the very least, that he hasn’t “linked up with anybody.”
