After leaving the church he grew up attending and joining a new one, Anonymous has experienced a major rift with his family. The situation has escalated to the point where his parents have issued a threat to cut him off if he doesn’t return home this weekend to participate in a church gathering. Anonymous fails to comprehend the reason for all the commotion, as he believes he is mature enough to decide which church he wants to be a part of. Seeking guidance, he has reached out to The Best T in the City with Tbose, hoping to gain some insight into any blind spots he might be overlooking.
“After I turned 20, I decided to switch churches because I felt like my spirit wasn’t aligning anymore. My family wasn’t thrilled about it, but since I was old enough to make my own decisions, they didn’t try to stop me. Every year, on the first weekend of September, we have this big gathering at home where we invite the whole church, even the other branches, because my dad is a priest.
“Even though I changed churches, I still go back home during this time of the year. However, this year I decided that I wouldn’t be helping out and would stay at my own place. My family is furious about it. They’re calling me selfish and arrogant, and they’ve even warned me that if things go wrong in my life, I shouldn’t come running to them. I honestly don’t understand what the big fuss is about. This gathering is more about the church than the family, you know? I don’t see why I’m being forced to participate.
