The EFF has reportedly fired one of its councilors in the Makana Local Municipality for secretly working as a cleaner at Rhodes University as this is against the party’s constitution.
News 24 reports that single mother Noluthando Buwa, 59, was “given her marching orders for “double dipping” after she failed to resign by 10:00 on Monday.”
Her dismissal was in line with one of the party’s rules that EFF councilors “holding other remunerative positions with a different employer should effectively resign as EFF councilors and NOT resign from the other employment.”
Buwa was reportedly suspended from all party activities until she appears before a disciplinary committee. The 59-year-old was sworn in a few months ago to replace Anelisa Bentele, who was removed per the rules of the party after she “failed to secure the party a minimum of 100 votes in her ward in the local government elections in November 2021.”
959 Breakfast reached out to the EFF”s National Spokesperson to come to the show and share their views on the matter and they chose not to.
