959 Breakfast co-host Sol Phenduka recently embarked on a weight loss journey. He exclusively opens up about what inspired his decision.
Phenduka says his decision was motivated by ‘health reasons more than anything.’
“You got to be healthy. I’m trying to avoid weight-related illnesses. It could happen to anyone.”
He states that “all is going well” right now and most of it is “over and above the gym. “
“It is dietary: cutting on starch and sugar and possibly no alcohol,” he adds.
What Sol hopes to get out of this is well-being.
“The ultimate goal is health, obviously, it comes with other benefits: you feel good, you feel lighter and you look better.”
“You only have one body and your body is the only thing you are going to own from birth to death. It’s the one thing we truly own no matter how poor or rich you are so you have to take care of that.”
He notes that physical well-being is just as important as mental health.
“It’s not a weight thing whereby I want to get to losing this weight. It’s a lifestyle change of bettering yourself. Just like you take care of your mental health, you must take care of your physical health.
“It’s equally as important to your mental health because when you are not feeling well it affects some other things related to your mental health. Mentally I’m in a good place and now it’s about my physical health.”
