This Thursday we are decoding the legendary Sello Maake KaNcube on 959 Breakfast with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka.
While in conversation, Sello opened up about his abusive past.
After discovering that he had a bad temperament, which he believes he got from his dad, Sello sought rehabilitation.
“After I discovered that then there was the beginning of introspection and through that, I realised what were some of the drivers.”
He says one of the drivers was jealousy and insecurity and not knowing how to control his temperament.
The actor notes that most of the time we try and look for the problem in the next person without looking inwardly.
He vows to never lay a hand on a woman again and encourages people to seek help.
“For as long as I live it won’t happen again.”

Sello says another pandemic we need to deal with is gender-based violence.
“We have to have honest and have sincere conversations about it.”
He says close attention needs to be placed on this pandemic.
“There is gender-based violence that is serial or psycho and there is there gender-based violence that is inter-partner violence and there are those who are rapists and pedophiles.”
