According to a recent article published on Business Day, the office of the Master of the High Court is currently in a state of disarray. The Law Society of South Africa has pleaded to parliament to intervene, as their previous appeals to the justice ministry have been ignored.
To shed light on this matter and provide guidance on how the public can ensure the legitimacy of legal professionals and approaches in conveyancing issues, 959 Breakfast invited legal expert Mpumelelo Zikalala to share his professional insight.

Zikalala highlighted instances where properties have been unlawfully taken over.
“Once you delve deeper into the deeds office, you find out that something is taking place even though you are the property owner and have the title deed to prove. You might find that the deed has been changed by a crook.
“There is also another element that goes into estate administration. There is definitely something that needs to be looked at in terms of the efficiency of the particular office and also the mitigating factors when it comes to any element of corruption.”
