The Competition Council has received over 200 complaints from parents regarding schools that are forcing them to purchase uniforms from a single supplier.
This morning, 959 Breakfast delved into the reasons behind schools making this decision and shed light on the challenges parents face when trying to find school uniforms. We also had listeners share their own experiences with this issue.
Tryroline G. Franks mentioned that it would have been much more convenient if she could have obtained her daughter’s uniform directly from the school. She expressed her concern about the lack of competition potentially leading to inflated prices.
Our newsreader, Gladys Motele, expressed sympathy for parents who cannot afford uniforms from the designated supplier. She questioned whether this meant they should consider moving their child to a different school.
