GALXBOY is one of the fastest-growing brands in South Africa. In the last year alone, they managed to open over seven years across Mzansi and look set to open more.
Recently, the multi-award-winning South African producer DJ Maphorisa paid one of their stores a visit and was generous enough to cough up close to R100k on merchandise.
After his shopping spree, Maphorisa posted the receipt on social media, encouraging the public to show love to local brands.
Speaking to Sunday World in 2023, the brand’s founder, Thatiso Dube, said that their journey has always been one of growth and innovation.
“Our journey has been one of creativity, innovation, and cultural expression. Emalahleni has a special place in my heart, so opening our sixth store in the city was particularly moving. We also look forward to becoming a part of the fashion landscape in Durban and Polokwane over the next few weeks, where we can continue to merge our unique perspective with the diverse fashion cultures of these cities,” said the businessman.
In 2023, DJ Maphorisa and Kabz Da Small donated R100k to Mdu Aaka TRP, who has been lauded as the godfather of the log drum in the Amapiano genre. For Maphorisa and Kabza, this was a gesture to show appreciation for Mdu’s contribution to Amapiono.
