Lady Du is opening up about a health condition that has affected her for years. The amapiano DJ took to Instagram to tell her followers that she has “something personal” to share.
She says she has had breathing problems since she was a baby.
“I can not do anything active for more than a minute, but there’s something about why I feel like God gave me my musical talent. I can dance on stage for 25 mins, pour my heart out, but I won’t pass out. But as soon as I run for a minute I go straight to hospital,” she wrote.
Lady Du revealed that she has to visit a doctor every three months to “clean” her system.
“Soooo sometimes I’ll look very tired and drained, still give it my all, but as soon as I get home I get weak. I’d love to go to gym but I can’t,” she continued.
The ‘uZuma Yi Star’ hitmaker says she can’t play around with her daughter if it involves running. She says she also can’t sit in rooms with smoke.
“I call it asthma because that’s what most people understand but my lungs, as I was told by the doctor, are underdeveloped, too small to carry my weight. So when you see me on stage performing my best know that as hard as it is for me to [breathe], I’m giving everything I have.”

Lady Du might not be able to chase after her daughter on the playground, but she goes all out to make sure she feels loved.
Her “little princess”, Mia, celebrated her fifth birthday in October. Lady Du ensured she had the best time with her friends and family.
“The pillar of my strength, love of my life, my one and only [heart emoji],” she captioned snaps from the Frozen-themed party for Mia.
