Police resorted to the use of teargas, rubber bullets and stun grenades in an attempt to disperse the protesters who were burning tyres and throwing stones and boulders.
Several claims by residents in the area include promises made to them for free houses since 2005. However these claims have been denied by Mogale City MMC for Public Safety Anna Setswalo-Moja.
Mogale reasons that these claims are untrue because the community have been updated on municipality plans for the area regularly.
