Comedian and Actor, Kevin Hart recently sat down with Will Smith on the Red Table Talk chat show, where he reflected on the impact of his cheating, past homophobic tweets and the relationship with his family.
In the interview, he spoke about how he was “never prepared” for the effect his public scandals had on his family.
He spoke about his family pulling a different ’emotional chord’ on him, particularly his daughter. He spoke about how important it was to get his daughter back, and how she still remains tough on him.
“Getting my daughter back, getting my daughter back to understand that I was sorry, that I made a mistake. My daughter was tough on me, until this day my daughter is tough on me.”
He apologised to his wife and his children after someone tried to blackmail him over a video showing him with another woman.

On the Oscars and Tweets that had resurfaced
In 2017, Hart received backlash after old tweets homophobic terminologies and slurs surfaced. In the interview he addresses how he dealt with it. The tweets resulted in him stepping down from hosting that year’s Oscars.
“When the whole thing started to happen with the LGBTIQ+ community and the misconception of me, what I was and what I am and what I feel, my daughter was so upset because she couldn’t process how people could think this about her father,” Hart explained to Will Smith.

Maturing and making wiser decisions
Kevin Hart acknowledged that at 41, he’s getting “more mature” and has learned the importance of listening to others.
“I wish that I would’ve arrived at this space in my earlier years and I just want to be able to handle a lot of situations differently.”
His latest movie FATHERHOOD shows a more dramatic side to his acting. Released on Father’s Day, the movie look at his character who is a devoted but desperate single dad.
His character goes through all the emotions which are not always expressed by fathers, he shows affection, hugs, and cries, and learns how to grieve.
