With most apps offering a free-to-use option, the question is are there apps worth paying for?
Whether you have an Android or Apple device, every smartphone user has an app that they cannot live without.
Kaya Drive host Sizwe Dhlomo, who will not pay for Netflix, coughs up about $100 a month for a VPN app.
The drive show host who doesn’t mess around when it comes to privacy will not compromise on a secure and private online connection.
Most of the Kaya Drive team used free apps on their devices.
With most apps coming at no cost at all, are people still paying for apps?

Most iPhone users opt to pay for the best apps to make the most of their device.
Others say they are mindful of apps that offer a “trial” period with the option to buy the app thereafter.
Many require signing up with your credit card before the trial period starts.
While you do have an opt-out option, some listeners did have payment go off their accounts after the trial period. Yes, even after opting out.
As one of the listeners pointed out, “nothing is for free” and some free apps come with a big catch.
Endless and annoying pop-ups that ruin your on-app experience.
App developers have to get paid somehow and if you’re not paying for the app, then payment has to come in the form of in-app advertising.
Some listeners felt they needed to spend less time on their devices and were deleting apps altogether.
